What are aluminum extrusion general tolerances and your standard?

The aluminum extrusions we supply meet the tolerances outlined by GB/T 5237.1-2017 (Aluminium alloy extruded profiles for architecture—Part 1：Mill finish profiles).

The main standard for aluminum extrusion tolerances is GB/T 5237.1-2017, However, where tighter tolerances are needed, we may be able to work to the standards set out in GB/T 6892-2015 (Wrought aluminum and aluminum alloys extruded profiles for general engineering), GB/T 14846-2014(Tolerances on dimensions and form of aluminum and aluminum alloy extruded profiles).

For the export of aluminum profiles, the following standards can be met.

BS EN 755-9:2016(BS EN 755-9:2016 BSI Standards Publication Aluminium and aluminum alloys — Extruded rod/bar, tube, and profiles, part 9: profiles, tolerances on dimension and forms).

US ASTM B221M (Standard Specification for Aluminum and Aluminum-Alloy Extruded Bars, Rods, Wire, Profiles, and Tubes [Metric])

BS 1474 standard (Specification for wrought aluminum and aluminum alloys for general engineering purposes: bars, extruded round tubes and sections)

AS/NZS1866 Australian/New Zealand Standard aluminum alloys—Extruded rod, bar, solid hollow shapes

However, many of the tolerances we supply improve on this standard. If you have specific or increased tolerance requirements, a member of our technical engineering team will be happy to discuss how we can help you.

The tolerances we can achieve on cut-to-length aluminum extrusion are profile dependent, ranging from +/- 0.2mm to +/- 0.5mm as standard but, again, subject to enhancement if needed.

There are some circumstances (usually depending on the size and intricacy of the profile being extruded) where we may not be able to improve on the aluminum extrusion general tolerances outlined in GB/T 5237.1-2017 Or other standards.
